The BREW Guitar Duo has delighted audiences all over Australia with their impeccable ensemble skills and their captivating stage presence. Matthew Withers and Bradley Kunda currently study at the Australian National University with Tim Kain, where they are constantly expanding their duo repertoire.
The duo's performance credits include concerts for the Sydney Guitar Society, Queensland Guitar Society, Darwin International Guitar Festival and national radio broadcasts (Australia All Over on ABC Radio). Their performance at the 2007 Sydney Guitar Society's annual Summer School received the following praise: 'An air of enjoyment motivated the performers and was transmitted to an appreciative audience' (Fred Blanks, North Shore Times).
The BREW Guitar Duo is an active exponent of contemporary Australian music, and has commissioned new works from Australian composers including Richard Charlton and Harold Gretton.
In 2006, the duo placed 1st in both the 'Instrumental Duo' and 'Chamber Music with Guitar' divisions of the Sydney Cultural Council's McDonald's Performing Arts Challenge (formerly Sydney Eisteddfod). Bradley was recently awarded first prize in the Cordoba International guitar competition held on July 15 in Cordoba, Spain.
The concert is a fundraiser for the Classical Guitar Society of Victoria and all profits will go towards growing the society and furthering classical guitar in Victoria. Alhambra Sadie Awards Gala Evening

The first of it's kind in Victoria, the Gala Evening will showcase performances from the top 3 most outstanding classical guitar students in the Victoria for 2008 in both the Open Category and the Under 16 yrs category. Finalists were required to show excellence and consistency in their playing skill by performing in at least three of the five Eisteddfods around Victoria throughout 2008. The evening will conclude with the major Alhambra Sadie Award for the Open Category, a scholarship to the most outstanding player of 2008.
This event provides students and teachers of classical guitar future growth and it is strongly encouraged to attend.
Tickets are $10 each and availble to purchase at the door, discounts are offered to group bookings please email info@melbourneguitar.com if you have any questions. Committee Members, Financial Members, Finalists and teachers are welcome to attend the Award Drinks & Nibbles from 5:45pm - 6:30pm before the event.
There will be a special display of unique Spanish luthier made guitars, the first of their kind in Australia and a chance to try out these as well as a fine selection of the Alhambra guitars on the night.
